Voskresensky Concrete Constructions and Products Plant.
Correspondents of “GBI and constructions” magazine visited the Concrete constructions and products plant in Voskresensk city, Moscow region. Voskresensky plant is well known in professional environment for its own unique projects of reinforced concrete structures production control systems. The plant’s management team consisting of several people determines the enterprise’s technological development policy, which is marked by the intermixture of foreign technologies’ application, a thorough choice of equipment and the use of own industrial know-how. Their professionalism and knowledge provided the basis of article, appealing to be the source of optimism and inspiration for colleagues.


Life example of Vladislav Gorodetsky.
This is a story of a famous house in the centre of Kiev, known as the “chimera house”. The story is connected with the expansion of concrete into the building materials market around a hundred years ago. The house was raised under the advanced technologies for the time being – piles, cement, concrete. Mr. Gorodetsky, the first concrete producer in Kiev, managed the construction, and then took residency in the house, where on its front he showed all the capabilities of concrete, thereby having made a good promo of his product.


Scientific support and new cast formwork technologies of unique buildings’ construction.
The article’s materials are presented by our colleagues from Byelorussian Construction Research Institute. During the erection of a new library building according to a solid-cast technology the institute developed and implemented the respective modified concretes, energy-saving technologies of concrete casting and unique cast formwork systems.


Efficient reinforcement designing of building’s concrete-steel construction.
The article was written by the head of Designing and Expert Evaluation Center of the Russian Branch Reinforced Concrete Research Institute named after Gvozdev (NIIGB). One of the principal stages of developing a reinforced concrete building design is the designing of structural components’ reinforcing. Building security, construction costs, and a subsequent value of maintenance and repair works depend on how efficient this work was performed. The article reviews the basic principles of modern workable reinforcing.


Collapse. Prerequisites and sources.
The report of technical commission for the investigation of collapse sources of a house in the course of building in the downtown of Moscow on September 03rd, 2009 provided the basis for the article.
The results of collapse area’s examination carried out by the commission show the computational errors made during the building’s blue-print stage. The material is provided to “GBI and constructions” magazine by the Reinforced Concrete Research Institute (NIIGB) for publication under exclusive rights.


 
Pre-fabricated economy class house.
This is a recession-busting deal from the House Building Factory from Naberezhnye Chelny city (Russia) – a one-storey reinforced concrete house with total floor space equal to 96 square meters (≈ 1033 square feet), where the cost of one square meter under the “key ready” basis is no greater than 18 thousand roubles. The total cost of a house connected to electric and gas networks, fitted up with plumbing and heating installations and complete interior finish is equal to 1,7 - 1,9 million roubles. With no any trouble the factory will deliver the building’s elements to any country’s region; furnish a house under the “key ready” basis by efforts of its own workers or provide a supervised installation.


Building information modeling.
The article is concerned with the BIM (Building Information Modeling) software system, allowing making a reality of an individual architecture idea when employing the prefabricated reinforced concrete construction methods.
A modern robotized production allows manufacturing the reinforced concrete structures of an individual form, i.e. the application of BIM allows the concrete products plants to become a fully legitimate participant of individual architecture and low-height housing construction markets.


Harmonization of eurocodes and national standards.
Notable figures’ of science and building industry points of view in the problem of regulatory documents in Russia provided the basis for the article. Our correspondent visited a range of events dedicated to the discussion of eurocodes. Participants were searching for a compromise between national and European standards, emphasizing that the time of violent debates on the issue of acceptance or non-acceptance of eurocodes has passed away. The process of massive expansion of modern European materials, technologies and equipment is evident. So that to be at liberty to use these achievements, and also due to a long-felt need of updating of own building regulatory environment, one should take an active involvement in the harmonization process between National standards and eurocodes.


Sergey Sergeyevich Ataev – a man, a builder, a teacher, a scientist…
Each time has its own heroes. But sometimes cult-figures survive their eras, however preserving the actual continuity of chosen positions also within new historic circumstances. The article's hero is Mr. Sergey Sergeyevich Ataev, a notable figure of building industry. One of most important institutes in the Republic of Belarus building industry bears Mr. S.S. Ataev’s name.


High-tech production of special welded wire fabric.
An overwhelming majority of bending and reinforcement assembly shops in concrete products plants throughout the former Soviet Union are marked by a 90 % deterioration of equipment. It is worn out, outdated, does not meet modern requirements in production capacity, cost effectiveness, ergonomics and labor safety. Bending and reinforcement assembly shops in such condition represent a significant dead weight for an enterprise, and do not allow to quickly rearrange for the production of new articles. Equipment by AWM allows to significantly reduce the applied equipment stock and to produce various configurations of welded wire fabrics (including the ones with window and door apertures) in automatic mode.


Aspire Tower.
The article is presented by “Arup” company that has headed the design works under the construction of Aspire Tower in Qatar to the ХV-th Asian Games 2006. The article describes the unique solutions applied during designing of one of the highest constructions in Qatar, raised for 21 months.


Reinforcement butt joint by hydraulic swaging.
The article is presented by “Elba” LLC, describing how the company implemented framings for bored piles in its own production. Method of hydraulic pressuring of butt-jointed reinforcement allows a considerable simplifying of production process. As a result: the reinforcing rods’ consumption rate has decreased for 27%, and the time spent on a joint has reduced for 20 cycles.


“Arval” floors system.
The article is presented by Arcelor Contruction (ArcelorMittal) company, and tells about their production technology of floors and framed constructions’ storey floors utilizing the bearing stay-in-place forms. The form construction is represented by a shaped galvanized panel, bedded between framed building’s beams, reinforced by welded wire fabric and poured by concrete.
